Finally under the suggestion of Kun Yu we three today went to the Frick Collection.
A nice small private collection of some fine arts, I must say. But the two pieces of Vermeer seem to be for me quite fake. I was just wondering why, why, Vermeer suddenly put so much floating laughs on a female face and the detailed map of world in the background doesn't have the strict Vermeer style at all. I am doubting seriously. Anyway, I don't dare to say a lot, since it was long time convinced to be a real work, but I just feel they are not as real/nice as the ones in Amsterdam.
Actually, the building itself can be much more beautiful, but it needs definitely more care of the plants in the hall for example. Till said it was just the quick thinking way of American again, instead of taking care of the plants they just buy every two months new and "put" them there... well, quite a pity. But for NY, such a busy city, the people don't have time, or maybe, it is not worthy doing that. Gardening is a long lasting work.
Still, I was very satisfied with the time there. And also I explained a lot about the art history basic knowledge to Kun Yu. We took a simple lunch in a Japanese Noodle Restaurant. It was okay, but somehow very salty, always. I don't think the real Japanese noodle is so salty, but almost everything in NY has a heavy taste. Missing China again...
